clogged line 200

Hi,
Sorry for the lack of proper names, I'll try to do my best.
If you look at the big metal silver/gray thing that connects to the engine on the drivers side that the injectors sit in (still with me) There is a nipple with a skinny, flimsy black hose attached to it in the middle of the whole thing on the passenger side of it. When I tried to blow into this hose I realized it was clogged at the nipple. I removed the nipple with an 11mm wrench (just to make sure were talking about the same one). I had to use a nail to push it through, but ended up needing to really pound at it with a hammer. Anyway, I got it unclogged, but was wondering how it could have gotten clogged in the first place, what it is, and what else might be clogged or have been affected by this.
Should I pull an injector to see if it is firing? How would I go about doing this?
Thanks a lot again for all your help,
Kyle
