New to Volvo, my 240 wont crank over / turn over at all now

I did some searching on this site but I couldnt come up with anything relating to my problem exactly so I decided to register and post...

The car in question is a 1984 240 Turbo/IC, 4 speed manual. I bought this car a few days ago from the previous owner with the understanding that the battery and alternator were dead. No big deal - replaced alternator with a junkyard unit & battery from one of several lying around the shop. Alternator is putting out a solid 13.8-14.4v depending on load. Seems to be running fine. I drove the car about 10 miles after the alternator install and parked it. I drove it a few times since then.

Now the car was parked for 2 days and I came to start it, and it will not turn over at all. I hear no clicking/turning over of any kind when the key is turned to the start position - voltmeter shows a strong 12.8v from the battery. I took the battery out and swapped it with another known good unit but still no go. There is no clicking or noise coming from the starter. The temperature outside is about -12 celcius (which is about 13f). Any ideas? I doubt the started just happened to die out of nowhere. It sounded healthy last time the car started.

I appreciate any input/diagnosis help!
