Low power, low rpm 200 1983

Hi,
I'm having problems with my 244-411 (2.1 B21A) and I was hoping to find suggestions on how to fix it here. I've tried to search the archives etc.

I'm afraid that my english vocabulry concerning cars isn't very good (I'm swedish). But I hope that I can make myself understood.

Anyways - my problem is that the engine doesn't give much rpm - resulting in very low power. Pushing the pedal from 50% to 100% just doesn't increase the rpm. I've gone through the carburator, cleaned it and changed the valve close to the floater and the membrane etc (not the needle though). The gas pedal wire works fine. The idle is low but it does not die - although it runs alot better with a minimal of gas pedal pressure.

It is possible to drive the car, but it no fun (and not safe). On some shorter "test runs" - I had a hard time changing to second gear, and even harder getting to third - very very bad acceleration. Going up a steep hill I had to go back to first gear.

As you might have guessed I'm not an experienced mechanic, but I'm willing to learn and I'm on a tight budget.

I'm thinking it might be the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay...? I've tried to check vacuum tubing (and also removing them one after another with the engine running - but hardly any changes).

Any suggestions appreciated!
