Hello All:
1967 Volvo 122S Wagon. The slave cylinder has been leaking a bit for some time. I noticed that the dust cover had popped off, still hanging onto the thrust rod. I put it back on and the problem slowed a bit. I removed the whole contraption and took it apart. The seal was fine, the spring was fine, the plunger had just the barest amount of pitting, but the inner walls of the slave cylinder from the open end down about an inch were pitted. I noticed that the plunger and seal were hanging up on the pitting even after cleaning and lightly honing the inside. I assume this pitting was caused by the gunk and dirt that made its home in there when the dust cover came off.
I reassembled the cleaned beast with hopes high but alas, the leaking persists. It sure looks pretty though.
Everything about the system is in good shape except the cylinder itself. NAPA offers some junk; I really would like a Girling. Where can I find one, and what part number do I need? Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers,
Jeff Pucillo
