over drive question 200

How can I figure out if my 1982 240 has overdrive or not. It is a manual transmission, and the shift knob where there would be an overdrive button is gone. I have the ring that you pull up to access reverse, and the white plastic thing on the end of the shifter which would normally be covered by a shifter knob.
