My Dad bought a P1800s new in 1965, and drove it daily until the engine wore out. Instead of rebuilding it, he decided to install an aluminum-block Buick V8.

He used the stock Volvo 4-speed w/OD transmission, and he became quite well-known as 'the guy who can smoke his tires going into 5th at 140 mph!'

Anyway, he drove that car for several more years, then decided he needed a truck more, and bought a Datsun to drive to and from work.

The carburetor was pulled from the Volvo, the gas tank was drained, and the car has been in storage for about 20 years now.

The interior has sun-rotted and the red paint is mostly history, but the car is absolutely straight and all the little trim pieces, etc. are there.

I'm considering buying it from him, but I haven't decided what I'd do with it, exactly.

Considering the awesome power and speed, I'd kind of like to see it as a vintage racer, even though it couldn't run in the under-two-liter class.

That would take care of the interior problems - just a new headliner, dash cap, and front seats upholstery. The remaining panels could be aluminum sheet.

If you had the chance to build this car, what would you do?
