Hi again,
Car in question is an 89 740 GLE non-us spec with a B230E. I'm in Malaysia in case the weather matters in what I'm about to ask.
Almost all of the electrical connectors in the engine bay are having the same issue ie the rubbery insulation like material encasing the electrical connectors are crumbling away. This is causing the electrical connectors which I believe are the bullet type to be loose in the their respective plastic holders or multiconnectors or whatever they're called. So far those affected are the headlights connectors making the idiot bulb come on intermittently. The washer pump connector too. I presume the other are also affected but dare not pry open the multiconnectors as I don't have a permament solution.
I've looked through the parts book and these rubber insulators as I call them are not listed as a separate item. At the moment I've discarded the plastic holder/connector and have covered the electrical connectors with electrician tape. Messy and crude until I find a better fix
Anyone else have this problem with their 89 model? And another thing in case you're wondering the harness are all ok. It's only the connectors.
Thanks in advance
Aslan
