can I drive the car without the amm electrically connected? 700 1989

My stalling after 4 or 5 seconds unless I feather the gas problem is apparently the air mass meter. Car run's excellent again with it disconnected.
Can I drive the car without it electrically connected to get to the bone yard for a replacement amm; a 20 minute drive?
