second gear stick shift pops just a little - is this serious? 200 1986

Hi all,

While I am driving and shift my brick into second gear, the gear shifter will pop forward just about 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch to my best estimate. The transmission does not pop out of gear and I can shift up to third or back to first without a problem. Is this serious? How can it be remedied? Thank you in advance.
