Why do they mount the Power Stage so close to the Air Filter unit on my 91 940 Turbo. When it gets hot, the car will not restart.Does it have to be there?

Can i do some rewiring and place it somewhere else, like in the passenger compartment? Has anyone else expressed this problem?
