Brick beats Audi A8! 900 1994

I probably shouldn't be gloating over this, but this morning, I couldn't help getting into a little game of "chicken" at the Army base where I work with the driver of a new Audi A8 who was clearly convinced that his status as an Audi owner entitled him to cut in front of all of the more plebian vehicles waiting to go through security. As soon as he had the chance, he whipped around me into the next security checkpoint lane, and he sat there inching forward up to the bumper of the car ahead of him, just itching to get ahead. We cleared security at almost the same moment and took off. The road narrows back down to one lane after the checkpoints. We roared ahead side by side, with him obviously expecting me, in my humble 1994 945, to defer to his German superiority. But the Brick just kept moving over, closer and closer to his $60,000 fenders, and he finally admitted defeat and backed off! Funny that an Army officer would forget how Sweden managed to hold off Germany in a certain World War...

Sometimes in urban traffic, it helps to drive a car that people think has no value rather than one that you're scarted to death to put a scratch on. But I promise to be a good boy and never pull this kind of stunt again (yeah right.)
