Increasing Compressiom ratio of a turbo engine

I recently removed the turbo engine of my 740 turbo .I heard some where that the compression ratio of the turbo cars are some how lower than that of non turbo cars.Expectably the car became sluggish afther the conversion.Is there a way of increasing the ratio so that my car can have some spirit?
