Hi!
This 1992 Volvo 960 of mine runs great and starts very reliably. However, it nearly always won't start the first time you try - the starter turns the engine over fine, but the engine won't fire. However, you turn the key off and then try again and the engine leaps to life. This is consistent about 95% of the time.
Now that I know what to expect, it's more of an oddity than anything else... but does anyone have any thoughts as to what is going on and why this odd pattern of behavior? I did recently replace the battery, which only made the engine turn over faster... but still the same behavior persists.
Is this indicative of a weak fuel pump/low fuel pressure? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
