Bypassing OD solenoid AW-71 200 1982

Hello again. My car has an AW-71 auto 3+OD tranny. The overdrive doesn't work, and i read somewhere that the solenoid could be bypassed. Could somebody please describe this in detail to me? My top speed is only 65MPH. I'm 16 years old and this really doesn't work for me. Please help, you don't want fords and hyundais beating me do you?
