Just bought an 'A' grind cam for my 1986 244 B230F, now a few questions....... 200 1986

The cam won't arrive for a week or two, there is time for planning.

First off, I know to install a new cam cover seal, and a new cam front seal, too. Should the cam be well oiled or greased as I install it? Get some lube into the bearings to start with?

I expect that a valve adjustment will be needed. I will have "Nils" do it, but I need to know if it must be done ASAP or if I can delay a bit without engine damage.

The seller said that the "A" grind in a "F" engine makes for better breathing in the mid-range rpms. That would make my 2-1/4 inch exhaust system (cat-back, no front muffler) really do it's job, right?

The rear end of the cam is not machined to drive the 740-style distributor. I can't imagine that this would cause any problem, am I right? Will I need a new "half-moon" seal back there?

I will appreciate any tips and caveats and experiences you care to pass along. Actually I bought two cams and I intend to put the 2nd into the wifemobile (1988 244) if it works OK in my daily driver.

Thanks as always, for your reading time and your responses,

Bob
