Intank fuel pump conversion, IS it needed? 200 1982

Hey yalls. Just wondering why this kit is needed and if anyone out there has gotten away with just odering the pump by itself from say FCP or IPD. I have a k-jet b21F and it lists the fuel pump at $115 wow!! On the other hand, FCP and IPD have the Bosch pump by itself for only 60 bucks. I really would like to save the extra FIFTY dollars and get a new fuel filter check valve for main pump, etc. Maybe I will even have enough money left over to actually buy some gasoline!! haha. BUT SERIOUSLY Can I just forget the conversion kit??



BTW What does it actually upgrade or convert?
