Status of Cabbie's used tranny replacement 200 1989

It works.

Bottom line..I paid $350 for the AW70. I paid $375 for the rear main engine oil seal replacement and the mechanics swapped them out. Shifts great. Tranny fluid seems a bit high...I'll prolly check again later when the tranny is hot/cold.

I'm glad that it works..I was taking a chance buying a used tranny. The mechanics said that my shifter was out of alignment and that they had to adjust it. Also..they said that I had put my balljoints on backwards, i.e., left on right side..etc. (<-- I recently replaced the struts, strut mounts, ball joints, tie rod ends, and control arm bushings....I'm gonna compare the ball joint orientation w/ my '93 245). And they said that my center driveshaft support bearing was whining (which I knew). But other than than...the rear main engine oil seal is tight and the front tranny seal is new and I'm shifting from 1st to 2nd even when it's cold outside.

Some of you may recall that my tranny suffered a radiator coolant leak which made the ATF look like Pepto Bismol...never was satisfied w/ tranny after that ....even after several ATF flushes.

I'm gonna check on the ATF level and fix those ball joints. I'll prolly try and squirt some WD-40 or something in the driveshaft center support bearing.

$735 bucks later and I'm cruisin. Life is good. Fingers crossed. (hee hee )
