I was able to purchase a DGV and manifold including propane connections very cheap. Quite pleased with it, although I know some would strongly recommend against the DGV kit. Anyway, I gave the bugger a bath and had a look at how it is supposed to operate. The carb casting says DGAV. I gues the cast for water and electric choke are the same? My carb has the electric choke, which is where my question relates to, since I dont seem to fully grasp the operation of it.
The bimetal responds to outside temps and controls the choke butterflies. So when I put it in the freezer the chokes close, put it in the oven and they open. So far so good. How about when its freezing outside, but the engine warms up?
I suppose the electric connection on the bimetal should be getting current routed via some temp dependant resistance in the engine block? But when I hook the bimetal thinghy straight onto the battery, nothing happens. Is it supposed to warm up after a while causing the bimetal to open the chokes?
Thanks, cheers, Ben
ps. I presume I can just leave the idle cut of solenoid unattached? I dont think its working (cant hear a click).
