aw71 problem update-getting worse 900 1993

Thanks to everyone for all the input, as the story goes on. After a 50 mile high speed run, the tranny will no longer shift into od. the light still functions but the button has no effect on shifting. I can hear the relay clicking when the button is pressed. Occasionally the light will not go on when the button is pressed,but it will react to another push of the button. The wire to the solinoid seems to be intact.
Is the tranny dying?
