Help.....my gray brick will not shift into reverse or park.....after coming back from a shop that tried to fix the vehicle for another unrelated problem....The car will suddenly sputter and then die after about 15 minutes of drving.only to restart after cooling off......

...but NOW I am having difficulty even getting on the road.
I am wondering ....is this a transmission issue or do I probably have something wrong with the linkage?
Please reply if you have had a similar problem.
