whine, tink-tink... 200

There's a strange whine coming from underneath my M46 equipped 1982 240 (non-turbo). It's actually quite difficult to describe (let alone locate), but it's somewhat of a metallic, whiny, tink-tink sound that is related to driveshaft speed, not engine speed. It also seems to be related to driveshaft angle, since it fades in and out if the car sinks down after a bump.

Could this be u-joint related? If so, what's involved with replacing a u-joint?

Could this be related to the center driveshaft bearing? I just replaced a deteriorated center bearing support, but I left the bearing in place.

Could is be something that's just loose under the car?

Thanks in advance for your help.
