1990 740 wagon idle below specification.... 700

I have a 1990 740 wagon (auto trans) with 217,000+ miles on it. For the past 6 mos., I have noticed that my idle is between 500-600.I believe the normal idle for an auto trans. is around 750-800 rpm. My question is where to start to troubleshoot my problem. All suggestions/opinions/tips would be appreciated. Thanks all.
