'95 960 Sudden RPM surges 900

You guys have helped before so I think you can help me again. I will be driving the car and sometimes when I depress the gas pedal to go a little faster...nothing will happen for a second or two and then all of a sudden the car will jump and make rpm's....Any Clues as to what this could be...Thanks
