Installed a rebuilt rack on Saturday. This solved part of my problem (steering takes less effort, eliminated looseness in front end, but introduced a new one:
If I turn the wheel slowly, it turns smoothly. However, if I turn the wheel briskly, as to do a U-turn and then straighten out again, it the front of the car shudders. You can feel it strongly in the steering wheel, but the passenger can feel and hear it as well.
Rack rebuilder is willing to send me another rack, but they say that this is not a symptom that a rack would normally have. They suggest that I check the car out carefully before going to the trouble to put in another rack.
Anyone ever had this symptom?
