plastic 740 sender - upgrade? 700

Hello,

Recently I picked up a used fuel sender from a 89 740 in a local junk yard. The head where the hoses attach to is all plastic, the one on my 89 740 Wagon is metal(and rusted, thus the leak). Is this plastic headed sender going to work? Is this perhaps an upgraded dealer replacement part?

Your thoughts are welcomed.
