On my 91 940 Volvo Turbo 230BFT, my engine floods out from the moment I start it. Its getting tons of fuel even though I changed out the FPR (Regulator). I also changed out the ECT. The plugs always check out wet. The O2 is covered with powdery black soot. It just bogs down, stutters and surges and then dies like it’s even not getting enough gas.
Once in a while, the car starts and behaves normally, but lately the problem is getting worse. I was convinced I had an engine problem, like a bad ECU or a bad O2 sensor (I changed the O2 out too.)
I am wondering whether I have a gas line/tank problem. Would a clogged return line or a clogged vent line or a bad gas cap prevent fuel from returning from the injector rail to the tank and increase pressure to the injectors?
Is my 940 Turbo flooding out because of a Gas tank/line problem?
