Even after viewing the VERY clear illustration in the FAQ, I'm not sure what I've got, Cam or ZF rack.
The Cam rack apparently uses a boot that has a small opening, through which the tierod passes, and has no disc. The ZF rack has a boot with a large opening for the tierod, which is closed at the end by what looks like a very thin disc, almost like a washer.
My '84 245GLT has a large opening in the boot, which is sealed to the tierod by a big, fat rubber bushing.
Is the fat bushing actually part of the boot on a Cam rack, or is it the disc of a ZF rack? Both sides look the same, and I'm assuming at 140K miles are original parts.
Any opinions, experience, expertise or comments are most welcome.
