O/D won't shift until 55-60mph 200

Will changing the white O/D relay help? The orange arrow light goes on and off with the button. O/D works but seems to shift late. Can this possibly be bad for the engine or transmission with the high revving and extra load before O/D engages? sometimes it will shift at 50mph. I'm thinking about getting a new relay, but before I do wuill that cure the late engagement? Thank you in advance.
