My 1991 945t will not accelerate quickly, and will not go past the midpoint (engagement) on the turbo gauge, or over about 2700 rpm (i have been as high as 60 or so mph since problem started, but it usually limits me to about 55) . this problem happened suddenly (i was driving 75 and then it just slowed down and i have only being able to go 55 since), but i have been driving for a month, hoping it would "work itself out", as my car seems to have a habit of doing.
acceleration can only be attained by a constant gentle pressing of the pedal, any sudden throttling causes the rpm's to fall, but i haven't stalled once. the car remains driveable, but i fear not being able to accelerate when i might need to, and i travel highways where 70+mph is expected and 55 is frowned upon.
i have checked the faq and such, and it seems it could be the fuel pressure regulator, but i don't know if this fails suddenly like mine, or if it is gradual. i'm pretty sure it's not the in-tank pump, but i was wondering if this could be a turbo failure of some kind, which i have no experience with. there is nothing clogging the turbo or intakes. any help would be appreciated by both me and my old girl. she gets embarrassed on the parkway.
