Bucking bronco! 200 1979

OK, now it's starting fine after some battery terminal cleaning but "The Tank" bucks like crazy when I attempt to accelerate. The idle is a little rough and there is a bit of a miss when running it up to about 2000 RPM while stationary. So far I've done the following:

1. Cleaned connections on the coil - I have about 4.0V across the + and - terminals when running - is this correct? I expected 12V.
2. Cleaned and gapped the plugs (.028)
3. Cleaned the rotor and visually checked the distributor cap.
4. Cleaned and tightened the battery connections, including the pigtail that goes to the accessory bus bar on the driver's fender well.
5. Checked the air filter element - very clean.
6. Checked the O2 sensor function with my digital voltmeter - looks OK, the range is from about 0.4 to about 0.8V. Is this too large a range?
7. Wiggled all the wire bundles that run past & to the distributor while the engine is running to see if I can cause it to act up - no such luck.
8. Fuel pump seems to run just fine - nice constant low hum when driving.

The next step is to change the fuel filter. I suppose it could also be a substandard main fuel pump or ignition coil. Any ideas or insight before I take it completely apart!
