Hi, everyone. It's been a while sunce I've been on here... My '86 245 is running great, over 200K since Thanksgiving!
My sister sent her '95 960 sedan all the way over to Wash. D.C. from L.A. for my mom to have a new ride (currently an '89 245). I had driven this car in L.A. last May. It felt great and was a wonder on the highway. So the car gets to my mom's $800 later, and she takes it to the mechanic to have it checked out. It needs more than $3000 work if you include suspension work. At the very least it needs a new head gasket, but the mechanic says that there's exhaust getting in the coolant and the block could be cracked.
What to do? Call the Salvation Army, American Lung Association?
I have replaced a 240 head gasket, but I don't expect the 960 engine to be quite as easy to fix. And then if the block is cracked... This car has about 110K miles on it and has been on a steady diet of Mobil 1 Synthetic from 50K. What a way to go out! I wonder if my sister overheated it?
Thanks for any advice!
