Hello all,
I'm the proud owner of an '86 240DL. It's a 4sp manual w/ overdrive switch. The spade connectors to the overdrive switch on the shifter have overtime become to loose, and have come off the switch connectors. I've tried numerous times to put the shifter knob back on the shaft while having the wires properly go back onto the switch. These numerous times have failed miserably. In order to switch into overdrive these days, I keep the knob off the shifter shaft, and use a coin to activate overdrive. This has worked for me flawlessly, but it's getting a bit annoying. What is the best way to fix the situation? Everything about the overdrive works, I just have a non connected switch. Should I rerun new wires with new connectors, or move the switch to the control panel as I've seen mention of? I'd rather have the switch stay on the shifter, but there just isn't enough slack in the wires to attach the connector to the switch. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Shaun
