A short story Long:
Had to do Motor Mounts this weekend, While I was ordering them I figured that I swapped and rotated my Brake and Clutch Pedal Pads enough and it was time to treat myself to new ones. So the Parts arrive Thursday. I figure since it’s easy and Dinner is still on the stove I will just pop the Brake and Clutch Pedal Pads on. That went easy enough.
I didn’t use the car until Saturday rolled around and it was time for the Motor Mounts. I slide under the car and in 2.5 hours the Engine is sitting Happily on it’s new Mounts. I hop in the car to take it for a quickie test ride. I cleaned my hands with this Citrus stuff so that’s all I can smell at this point. Monday comes, I climb in to go to work and I think “gee, those Motor Mounts really smell..rubbery”. To and from work for that last three days I smell Rubber,I pop the hood and I don’t smell rubber, why would the new mounts smell so much in the car and not under the hood? It’s not burning rubber, it’s new rubber, crazy, what is this all about. It's Wednesday evening now. I had to take my son to LAcrosse practice. He hops in the car looks at me and says “ Shewie, those new Clutch Pad thingies really stink up the car don’t they”? The Light bulb finally turned on..it’s not the Motor mounts, it’s the Dopey Pads I put on….ahhhhh! Of course my response to my son was “ Yeah, that’s what I've been thinking all week.
I had to share this. I think it was funny. Just another case of how the obvious is the last thing to come to mind.
