Can you install a timing belt on a '93 940 turbo without removing the crank pulley?

I have the top of the timing belt cover off, but am having trouble getting the crank bolt off. My whack the ratchet with a hammer method isn't working this time. I was wondering if it is possible to get the old belt off, and the new one on without removing the crank pulley? Also, any tips on getting it on the right TDC would be much appreciated. I have had many problems with this before. Any tips at all with this job is much appreciated. I have done about six of them before, it has been a while.
