I've been offered a turbocharged Volvo engine in exchange for a little specialty project. I'm debating whether I should go for it or not.... I'm selling the quick car, and have been enjoying the '86 245's ponderous performance, it's a nice change.
Any pitfalls I should be aware of with this kind of swap? The wagon already has a manual four speed with OD, (will it hold up?) and the suspension need some attention anyways. I've worked with a lot of engine swaps, and the experience has convinced me that there's no substitute for matching electronics, sensors, and meters to go with the engine; just plug it all in and go.
And if such events were to unfold, exactly which model and year engine should I extort for my services? I wouldn't have much trouble demanding a wiring harness/ecu to go along with it, so that's not a problem. I remember seeing something about piston squirters in the later 940's, can't complain about piston squirters...
