Question about plastic reinforcement 200

I have been scratching my head trying to figure out how to mount speakers in the side rear seat panels of my '88 240 DL wagon. When it was purchased new from the dealer by my dad in 1988, he had them install 4" speakers in the plastic side rear seat panels. They held up for only a little while before the plastic started to crack... I'm guessing because of the weight of the speakers and the tension from the speaker mounting screws.

My question is this...

I'm planning on buying replacement panels from VoluParts here in Atlanta. I'd like to mount speakers in them, but I'm afraid they might crack again. Is there any type of plastic reinforcement material that I can apply to the backs of the panels to give them more strength? I'm thinking they probably make some sort of fiberglass spray or adhesive that'll do the trick, but I don't know where to look...

Any ideas would be greatly welcomed...

Thanks!
Drew
