960 won't start

I have a 92 960 that sometimes will not start. The PNP switch has been replaced and sometimes when you try to start it, it will not start. If you continue to hold the key in the start position, it may start after about 5 seconds. If it
does not start after 5 seconds, I have a switch that I have installed that puts 12 volts straight to the solenoid and the car will start immediately so the starter does not seen to be the problem. Battery is good too. I would like to find the problem. Any help or suggestions on what to check will be appreciated.
