Noise in rearend 200 1986

My 1986 240 sedan, 188K, has been making a noise in the rearend, mostly on cold days (I live in Maine). It's a constant hummm that will increase or decrease with my speed, and it's not affected by braking. The noise will go away after driving a few miles down the road. I've jacked up the car and spun all the wheels, and the passenger rear wheel made extra noise, even with the brake caliper off. Don't know what it is, any ideas?
