How DO you get the crankshaft front seal in with a piece of 3'PVC pipe and couplers w/o buggering up the seal?

just wanted to ask how you did you get the seals into the block? I've not been successful finding a tool the keeps the lip of the gaskets from turning over as you ream, slide, twist, coddle the crank shaft seal on......so what did you use>?
I've got Elring seals...I'm working now on using a piece of 3" plastic PVC pipe and the old seal to try to get it on?

Any takers on this?

i have been thinking about ordering a tool from www.zdmak.com but i hear it takes 14 days for them to give it to you/ mill it from scratch in their shop and pack and deliver it.( I thats the case My car will be down and out for another 2 weeks. and if thats the case I'll go on vacation while I wait for it to show up)

I've referred to the FAQ's section.....but I'm looking for the home grown approach. I've already screwed up the new seal with nicks in the inner lip so I have to order a new one from FCP.
I have a '91 volvo 740 8 valve B230 160k miles --already tried the PVC pipe. What else? Approach?
help?!!!

thanks in advance.
-ANDY
