ZF rack leak 200

Hi all. 85 244turbo.
My steering rack is leaking, below the lower steering u-joint at the top of the rack. it looks like i might as well replace the rack since its probably original? i only want to do the job once. (do you agree?) my other 240s have the cam gear and they seem to steer much easier. my volvo friend/mech said he replaced many more ZF racks than cam racks. the thing is i will be installing a new/JY compressor, ps pump, bracket setup to change over to the rotary compressor. this will make any steering rack work much easier to get to. any experience with the different racks or leaks will be appreciated. (yea i know the u-joints are severly overpriced) thanks
