Replacing leather - fair price? 900 1991

Anyone ever replace the leather on front seats? I took it to one place and they quoted me $1600.00 for just the front and lower side sections ... in VINAL. I went to and old Italian guy with a crude shop, but many years of experience, and he will replace ALL front seat panels for $680.00 in leather. I'm going there this afternoon to order the leather I want. Sounds like a fair price to me. Anyone have experience to know if this sounds like a deal?

Bought the car new and put 215,000 miles on it, runs great, I keep it serviced well (do it myself of course), just had tranny rebuilt a year ago and going to have paint refurbished at a body shop monday. I figure its not worth selling for what I would get for it, so I may as well fix it up and put another 100,000 on it.
