89 240 oil pressure switch and charging 200

I recently put a rebuilt generator in my 240DL wagon and had two wierd things happen. Replacing the alternator, I had to pull the wiring over a bit to make them reach. Since then, the oil pressure light initially came on at start and went off--now it doesn't go on even if I ground the wire going to the sender. Also, even though it shows a charge (around 14 volts) when running, it has had a dead or dying battery twice. The battery checks out okay on my shop tester/charger. What gives?
