What kind of towers for Yakima rack? 200 1989

Hi,
I'm looking at putting a Yakima rack on an 89 240 sedan. It appears I have a choice between the Q-towers and the type that clamp onto the rain gutter. I'm curious what people are actually using and why. If I use the gutter clamps, how do they work with the chrome trim over the rain gutter since it seems like the clamps would cause trouble with it?
