The rubber on my tierod ends is rotten and splitting. I don't know how I missed that when I replace my ball joints a couple of years ago. So, I went ahead and ordered a pair and a pair of steering rod boots also, as they are also in pretty bad shape, but not ruptured or leaking yet. Anyway, my question is, the book says use a tierod end puller to seperate the tierod and ball from the steering arm. Is there a shade tree way to do it or should I just break down and rent the tool to do it with? And what kind of grease if any, do I put inside the new steering gear boot?
Thanks for reading and responding.
