Hi Gang,
First, Thanks to everyone who gave me advice and help.
After a fight with the cross member bolts, I finished the oil pump job today. As is mentioned in the FAQs, the o-ring on the oil delivery tube, on the block end, had been blown out. As I wasn't going to go through all of the trouble of taking the pan down without having a new pump to put in, just changing the o-rings wasn't an option.
It went pretty well and I was done in about 6 hours with a few breaks and stuff.
While I had the sway bars loose, I changed the bushings.
Results:
1) No oil light at idle (sweeet!)
2) Virtually no piston slap noise...Why?? Is it because there is more pressure at the piston pins?
3) Maybe just my imagination, but the engine seems to rev more freely
4) The car seems to be flatter in turns than it was.
Again, thanks everyone for your help. Sven is back!
