DIY-Make your own Strut tower braces for $2.00(Found this story very interesting)

I've been beefing up the suspension on my 91 740 NA and wanted to find all the low buck low cost ways of doing this just short of buying the package from IPD.

I've found links to a 240 site and read posts of a guy who put 2 sets of sways on his 240 wagon(painted them neon green so we'd know he was running two sets)he says it's just as stable if not more so that IPD's beefier sway bar sets. Might give that a try?!

Back to the topic:
I found from the FAQ section a link to someone who converted a non turbo car to a turbo car and his story of using 3/4" electrical conduit to make strut tower braces complete with pictures...al for $2.00 in electrical conduit and some custom bending techniques.
Quote:"Here are the details:

Parts: 10' of 3/4" electrical conduit from hardware store of choice (cost = $2)

Yes, thats right, you can have a strut brace (well, an upper at least) for the grand total of $2.00, and about 30 minutes of your time."

I know for lower chassis braces you can make one from flat steel iron drilled out in the right sections and bolted underneath.

Has anyone ever thought of this or tried it or completely thinks this is a waste of time?
