This is for a buddy. His '91 ignition locked up. The steering wheel will move a bit and it's sitting straight so I don't think it's the steering lock. We tried pushing the pin on the ignition to pull out the switch, however when we pushed the pin it just made a metal sound and the pin never came back out. I think something inside is completely shot. Locksmiths or mechanics around here aren't willing to come look at it, none work on volvos in this rural area. So, I'm wondering if we can't just drill the ignition out and order a new one. Would it be possible to start the car somehow once the ignition is drilled out? It would be nice if he could at least drive the car. Not to worried about anyone stealing it around here. An old Chevy pickup would get swiped a million times before anyone would look twice at a Volvo! Any suggestions on method of drillig the lock would be appreciated as well. Thanks!
