Greetings
This is a follow up to my previous post http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=929182.
Basically I'm trying to troubleshoot why my base idle would gradually drop over a few months. Car is a 1989 non-us B230E 740.
I've rechecked the auxillary air valve. Cleaned the connector and tested for the heating element continuoty. AAV closed in hot and slightly open in cold (spec says fully open at -30 celcius but here the coldest is 27 celcius). Cleaned all the connectors I could find related to the k-jet. Surprise, surprise the idle now is where it should be at 900 rpm.
But in the course of checking everything I noticed that the idle does not increase when I switch on the AC. The AC idle increase is controlled by a solenoid (pierburg) located in front of the TB. It has two pin connectors which I have cleaned to no effect. Does anyone know if the solenoid can be tested eg using a digital multimeter? I want to make sure it is the solenoid at fault and not a harness or wiring problem. I've had a few wiring issues with the car lately.
And secondly is there a way to test the TPS with a digital multimeter? BTW I don't have bentley only haynes which isn't of much use. Bentley isn't available where I live.
Thanks
Aslan
