740 gle wagon parking brakes 700

just redid the brakes, replaced front rotors and all the pads, when I got to the parking brake, the brake material fell off the shoes.
The dealer wants !!*55$**!! for these shoes.. way too much in my opinion. any cheaper alternative? I have considered getting some brake lining material and riviting my own. I have pulled apart 3 similar cars in the junkyards and every single brake shoe fell apart, just like mine. looks like a design flaw to me.
what is this? someones boat payment money?....
other than this problem I am very impressed with this car.
