In an effort to install an AC systemthat works in stop and go in a 122 w/b20 I'm installing an aftermarket aluminum radiator meant for a chevy. I want to mount an electric cooling fan(puller) behind the radiator(for maximum air movement.) There's no space for this without major butchery on the car's nose. I've been looking at several remote mount electric water pumps as an option to loose the mechanical pump and gain more space. I'd also get a couple more horsepower and less stress on an engine that will be strained by the AC compressor. Yes, I'm aware that if the thing breaks I have a quick lesson in why ALL production cars seem to have mechanical pumps. My questions are...has anyone ever doe this? which pump? how much flow should the cooling system have? and how did you address the routing of the coolant with the mechanical pump removed? (on this last one I was thinking of using the remains of a cut up mechanical pump and just cutting off the front part. Thanks for your thoughts.
